What Is Our Finish?

Oil-based polyurethane is our go-to finish for our legacy solid wood furniture. It has great durability and scratch resistance, making it great for a finish that will last many years. We apply our finish by brush so that our furniture has a nice hand finished look that you can't be achieved with a spray finish.

We've been using brush on oil-based polyurethane from day one, customer one. Why? We have many customers with children who need a durable finish that doesn't need to be looked after constantly.

Watch the video below to get a look at our first customers, and why we decided from them on to use oil-based polyurethane.

Here a some things that we love about using oil-based polyurethane:

1. It doesn't need to be reapplied like a typical oil/wax finish, and doesn't dry out over time like most oil finishes.

2. Spills wipe up easily. Oil based polyurethane allows room for error with children, such as spilling juice on the table. With some other finishes, juice and other liquids may cause the finish to need to be stripped and reapplied, but not with oil-based poly!

3. Condensation Won't leave a water ring. Yay!

Now, if something is too hot to hold, you'll want to put down a hot pad. that is something you would do with any finish. Damage to your top can also come through chemical spills, such as nail polish remover. Lastly, use a wet cloth or wet soapy cloth for cleaning your table, harsh household cleaning chemicals can deteriorate your finish over time.
