What do we mean by "we fill knots"?

The base wood we use for our furniture projects is a hardwood called white ash. White ash generally does not have a significant amount of knots in it, but what we like to do is stabilize those knots in table tops with black epoxy to eliminate the possibility of those knots becoming an issue in the future, as well as having an extremely smooth table top.

 

However, we understand that many people enjoy having open knots as well! If you desire to have open knots on your piece(s), simply tell us in your order. When you are at your cart page, press on the link that says,"add a note", then tell us you'd like the knots open on your furniture.

We do not generally fill knots on furniture bases unless the knot is in a place where it is imperative that the knot be filled for the overall integrity or aesthetic of the piece.
